D’ici le 15 mars, donc en quelques jours seulement, le gouvernement du Canada sollicite l’avis des producteurs canadiens et des associations industrielles sur leur capacité à produire une gamme de produits qui étaient soumis à des droits de douane lors de leur importation.
Les contributions à ces consultations serviront à déterminer si ces produits sont fabriqués au Canada. S’ils ne sont pas fabriqués au Canada, les importateurs de ces produits peuvent bénéficier d’un allégement tarifaire.
Le 4 mars 2025, le gouvernement du Canada a défini un processus et un cadre pour l’examen des demandes de remise tarifaire (c’est-à-dire d’allégement tarifaire) sur les produits importés des États-Unis.
La remise des droits de douane sur les importations en provenance des États-Unis est envisagée dans les cas suivants :
- Dans les cas où les marchandises utilisées comme intrants ne peuvent pas être obtenues sur le territoire national, que ce soit sur une base nationale ou régionale, ou raisonnablement à partir de sources non américaines.
- Pour faire face, au cas par cas, à d’autres circonstances exceptionnelles qui pourraient avoir de graves répercussions sur l’économie canadienne.
Un élément clé de l’évaluation par le gouvernement des demandes de remise en vertu de ces cadres est la question de savoir si le produit importé peut raisonnablement être obtenu sur le marché intérieur.
Si votre entreprise est en mesure de fabriquer l’un des produits répertoriés dans le tableau ci-dessous, veuillez l’indiquer en remplissant le formulaire en ligne.
Si un fournisseur canadien est identifié, l’entreprise demandant l’allégement tarifaire sera invitée à contacter ce fournisseur afin d’évaluer si ses besoins d’achat peuvent être satisfaits (c’est-à-dire les quantités, les spécifications, les délais).
