AQMAT brings together the companies that drive Quebec's hardware and residential building materials chain. Two ways to join, depending on your business profile.
Category 1 — Retailer
Hardware stores, home improvement centres, specialty stores.
Any retail business operating in Quebec for at least two years, or affiliated with a recognized industry banner, whose sales floor is primarily dedicated to the decoration, renovation or construction markets.
Becoming a retailer member of AQMAT means joining a collective force to grow your business.
It means receiving the printed Magazine AQMAT every quarter, reading the AQMAT Hebdo newsletter in your inbox every Saturday — summarizing the news of our industry — and watching the AQMAT en direct show every Tuesday morning, so you have every tool to stay tuned to what's moving in the sector.
It also means taking full part in the democratic life of the Association: running as a candidate for the Board of Directors and serving on its committees, attending the Annual General Meeting, and contributing to the surveys whose results shape AQMAT's public positions.
It means accessing the Périscope, our predictive dashboard on market fluctuations, and the Portrait de famille, the detailed mapping of market shares among purchasing groups — not to mention the Directory of active grants and the comprehensive monitoring of laws and regulations affecting our industry.
It means enjoying preferred rates at Collège AQMAT and its specialized training programs — consultative selling, paint and stain, pesticides, materials, customer experience, and soon plumbing, electrical and hardware-store management — which turn your employees into expert advisors.
It means benefiting from the Pause-café management webinar series. Better still, it means being able to count on experts such as a commercial real-estate broker to optimize the acquisition or sale of your business.
It means saving through negotiated rates on card payments, on several types of insurance, and on an OHS mutual group plan.
Being a member also means sharing moments with your peers at conferences, golf tournaments and galas.
Members support the development of the Code of Best Practices, so that transactions among retailers, distributors, manufacturers and purchasing groups are governed by a way of doing business that makes you want to keep doing business.
In short, it means belonging to a network of more than 1,000 member companies that interact and express needs that are sometimes different — but more often convergent.

Category 2 — Supplier
Manufacturers, distributors, buying groups, service firms.
Any manufacturing or distribution company of items or materials, or any company offering services relevant to retailer members, doing business in Quebec and having a business presence here for at least two years. Internally, supplier members are divided into two sub-categories: product suppliers and service suppliers.
AQMAT gives you a voice in the major decisions affecting the industry.
You can sit on sector committees, contribute to briefs filed with authorities, and seek to influence the standards and regulations that affect your products or services. By supporting the development of the Code of Best Practices, you earn the trust of a sector that values suppliers engaged in its structuring.
You gain access to the Périscope to take the pulse of the wholesale and retail markets. You closely track the movements of your customers and prospects through the mapping offered by the Portrait de famille and the up-to-date members directory.
You can enjoy direct visibility with all Quebec retailers of hardware and residential building materials. Your advertisements reach a targeted audience via the printed Magazine AQMAT, the AQMAT Hebdo newsletter, the AQMAT en direct show and our social media. You take part in industry events where you can build ties with decision-makers: conferences, gala, golf days, missions, and more. You access our media kit and our sponsorship packages tailored to your objectives.
You can also take full part in the democratic life of the Association: run as a candidate for the Board of Directors and serve on its committees, attend the Annual General Meeting, and contribute to the surveys whose results shape AQMAT's public positions.
You may eventually have your products certified through the Bien fait ici program, founded by AQMAT in 2018.
